Cycle Training Courses
We offer a range of Bikeability cycle training courses that are based on the National Standards for Cycle Training and vary according to age and ability. Please see the relevant section below on how to sign up for training and for more information on the National Standards please click the link on the left of the page.
Children's Training (6 - 12 years)
Children's cycle training takes place in the school holidays at various locations across the borough. 
There are 3 different courses available depending on age and ability.
Learning to ride (6-12 years)
A 2-day course for complete beginners that have never cycled before.
Level 1 Off-road (6-12 years)
 A 2-day course for people that can already ride and provides all the skills that you need to cycle on the road but the training takes place in the playground.
Level 2 Introduction to on-road cycling (9-12 years)
A 4-day course for people who can cycle competently but have little or no experience of on-road cycling. This course begins off-road and once basic skills have been covered the training will move on to local roads.
Online booking formIndividual Cycle Training (12-17 years)
Cycle training for young people is available throughout the year and is delivered as a one-to-one session. You are entitled to two free on-road sessions. Complete beginners are entitled to two off-road sessions to get started plus two on-road sessions.
Bikes and helmets are available for training. Please note parental consent is required.
Online booking formAdult Training (18 years +)
Adult training is delivered on a one-to-one basis and sessions are scheduled to suit your needs. Once you have submitted your application you will be contacted by an instructor to arrange a session. You are entitled to two free on-road sessions. Complete beginners are entitled to two off-road sessions to get started plus two on-road sessions. Bikes and helmets are available for training.

We deliver cycle training at many schools across the borough throughout the year so please check with your school to see if they have any training organised with us. Cycle training is offered free to schools. If your school is interested in booking cycle training please contact us.
