I’VE voted Labour in the past and, working for a homelessness charity, I am a member of trade union Unite because it helps support working people in a difficult economy and stands up for equality for all.
However, Unite has written to me three times to say Islington faces a choice between Labour and the Tories.
Islington hasn’t had a Tory MP in living memory. We haven’t had Tory councillors in Islington for nearly 20 years. Holloway has never had a Tory councillor. It is factually incorrect to say that in Islington South you need to vote Labour to avoid a Tory government.
