SHG HAS STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES IN BALANCE Southern Housing Group Limited Southern Housing Group Limited (SHG) has strengths and weaknesses in balance according to a report released by the Audit Commission.Audit Commission inspectors reached this conclusion following a short-notice inspection of how the London and South east based housing association is: responding to repairs that tenants report; involving tenants in decision making; and managing rent arrears accrued by those experiencing debt. This was because repairs reporting is tailored to tenants wishes, diverse communities are informing service improvements, dedicated resources support the associations commitment to involving tenants, services are easy to access and the management of arrears is reasonable.Hugh Boatswain, Audit Commission Lead Housing Inspector, said: Overall, SHG is delivering a reasonable service which includes various means by which tenants can influence the servces they receive. 393 Bus | Leighton Road | Kentish Town | Murad Querishi

Debate over 393 bus route heats upMORE than 1,000 people have signed a petition to keep the 393 bus travelling along Leighton Road in Kentish Town. The signatures were handed over to London Assembly member Murad Querishi this week as the campaign to keep the service in place hots up.The route, which was introduced last summer, has split people living in Leighton Road. Some say the road is not suitable for a bus route as it is too narrow, has cars parked on either side and traffic islands down the middle. It already has a ban on lorries over seven and a half tons and many living there say the bus has caused traffic jams and is dangerous. But others say the route is a lifeline and has cut the numbers of cars on the streets.Janet Taylor, who livesin Torriano Cottages off Leighton Road, heard that there have been calls for the route to be moved south to Agar Grove instead of winding its way from Holloway to Chalk Farm. ISLINGTON64 - Of Hungerford and Pratt, plus St Mungo's homeless and Holloway's condemnedThere are two schools near the north end of York Way, a Camden primary school called Brecknock, on the west side, and an Islington primary school called Hungerford on the east side. Brecknock, named after the family seat of Lord Camden, opened in 1881. Unusually, though, Brecknock also catered for blind children. Originally, a large building ran parallel to what is now York Way, and overlooked a terrace of houses opposite, behind which was the cattle market. It was replaced between the wars by the present building. During World War Two, the school was used as a fire station. The one-storey Hungerford infant school, on the east side of York Way, set among an area of
